Spring Tableware

Spring has finally arrived!

I love Spring! It is my favorite time of year even with all of the allergens competing for my attention. When the weather turns beautiful, sunny, trees and shrubs are in bloom (redbuds, dogwoods, Indian Hawthorne just to mention a few) everyone wants to get outside and enjoy nature. Unfortunately, some of us do not have that option for very many days. Even with years of allergy shots, antihistamines, masks for gardening ; pollen from all of these blooming plants overwhelm me and I spend more time than usual inside. We live in an oak forest and the old leaves dropping, blooming, tasseling and finally getting new leaves takes a while. For a week or so everything outside is covered with a fine green film of tree pollen.

This is the time of year that I love to put away all or most of my “darker” décor and “break out” the spring theme. I often put my crystal pitcher collection out at this time of year to lighten up the look in my den. I get down my bright, cheery dishes to enjoy for a while. Take a minute to look at all of the spring pieces that I have in stock from vintage to modern in style – you are sure to find a piece that you love.

I have many “spring items” listed in my store and want to give you some ideas for the use of dishes in my Featured Item for April:

• Lot of 26 pieces of Franciscan Earthenware Dinnerware Floral (USA, Rim Shape) With 9 dinner plates and 8 salad plates, along with a vegetable bowl you are off the a great start in adding a “Touch of Spring” to your table. The “gravy underplate” in today’s world would make a perfect “candle plate”. You have a wide range of spring colors to pull into your table setting with the floral pattern of the dishes. The inner circle of the plate measures 4 inches – just perfect for a great chunky candle. The 7 saucers are very versatile. Serve a small dessert (fancy cookie), add more candles with it’s convenient 3 inch center or use beside your sinks to put your jewelry so that it doesn’t get lost in the shuffle while you are cooking or cleaning.
